6 Simple Way To Improve Your Website’s SEO Rankings

We know how much traffic Google SEO rankings can provide if you are ranking on the first page. And this is what you want. If you are not on the first page or even the top five rank, you almost won’t be seen at all.

That’s the hard truth of Google Search. Most people will only click on the result on the first page. And only a small amount of people will reach page 2.

That’s why it makes sense to focus on ranking your website on the first page of the search result.

And, in this guide, we’re going to show you exactly how you rank higher and drive more traffic through SEO. Something you need to really pay attention to if you want to rank organically.

Do This BEFORE Improving Your SEO

First of all, if you don’t know, SEO is Search Engine Optimization. It’s the strategy to implement in your website to make sure it ranks top in Google Search Results.

SEO is great for long-term traffic. Google is driving you so many free results if you are able to rank top in the search result. But of course, if you want to buy your way in, Google Ads always ranks at the top as well when you pay for ads.

So, the goal here is to be on the first page, get free traffic and make more sales free with SEO. Google traffic is good because when someone is searching for certain keywords, they are doing research and are ready to make a purchase.

These are high-quality traffic that you can convert easily if you can address their concerns and provide solutions to them. To get a perfect landing page, a sales funnel and offers are also very important. And SEO is the key to getting organic traffic.

Let’s start with the first one.

1. Make it Faster – Improve Website’s SEO Rankings

We put this in the first way because it is the most important.

Google thinks the same thing. When Google tries to rank a site, one of the key metrics is how fast it can load.

Think about that.

If your website doesn’t load within five seconds or less, then you’re in trouble. Your potential customer might just close the browser and continue browsing other content.

It’s the easiest thing to optimize and improve, but yet, many websites owner doesn’t know.

Compared to other strategies, the most controllable thing is to optimize your site speed. And this can impact your SEO rankings so much.

As a service provider, it’s fair that Google will prioritize providing the best user experience for its user.

Hence, if your website is slow, it doesn’t have any chance of ranking. That’s why Google is so upfront about this particular ranking factor.

Speed matters.

How can you improve your website’s speed?

First, test your website with this free Google Pagespeed tool to see if it has a speed problem.

After completing the test, you will get the information below:

Follow the suggestion in the test result and optimize your page to get the best conversion.

The good news is that most website builders today — including ClickFunnels — are built automatically to optimize your website for speed.

2. Find Low Competition Keywords – Improve the Website’s SEO Rankings

In order to rank well in SEO, one of the keys is to know which Keywords to rank for. This is why keyword research is a critical part of the process of getting good at SEO.

Without proper keyword research, your content is not skewed towards the keywords. Your page might rank for a few keywords, but your website’s SEO is not fully used.

How do you do research keywords to rank for?

First, you’ll need a tool. I use Ahrefs, but other options would be Ubersuggest or SEMRush. Both Ahrefs are SEMRush are good tools for SEO keyword research with plenty of data available.

Ubersuggest on the other hand offers free keyword research, which is a good start if you don’t have much budget initially.

Once you have the keyword research tool ready, you can start researching for keywords that match your niche. What we are looking for here is high volume, low competition keywords.

We sometimes called these the long tail keywords.

Long Tail keywords

If you would rank for works like “email marketing” for example, you are not going to outrank the top players in the market. But instead, if you are trying to rank for the keyword of “email marketing for network marketers” or “email marketing for real estate agents”, you will most probably get a good amount of search volume but with lower competition as not everyone is targeting the same keyword in your niche.

Now you get the idea of keyword research. The higher the search volume and the lower the keyword difficulty, the better.

I’ll usually settle for keywords with upwards of 100 searches per month and less than 30 difficulties.

Dive into your SEO tool and try to find at least 10 great keywords you can rank for.

An important side note is that no two keywords on your list should be too similar. If you Google for multiple phrases and the same top 10 results pop up in Google, then throw away the more granular keyword and keep the most general keyword.

3. Create Your Keywords Optimized Content – Improve Website’s SEO Rankings

A basic website without valuable content is nothing. You might have a website with a homepage, about page, feature page, product page and so on that is ranking for some keywords. But not getting too much search traffic.

To improve your organic traffic, you simply just produce more SEO-optimized content.

There is no such thing as ranking for too many keywords. Ideally, you want to rank as much as possible. And to do that means creating more posts or articles consistently with content targeting those keywords.

Here’s how we do it, and you should too.

1. Title Tags, Meta Descriptions, & URLs

After you had undergone the keyword research process above, now you should have a list of keywords that you want to rank for.

Now, choose the keywords that you want to rank the most and write content for them. You can write it like normal content first, and do the optimization later.

After your main content is done, the next would be to optimize a few elements to make it SEO-friendly. Title, meta description and URL.

These are the information your visitors see in Google when they search the keywords. That’s why this is the first thing you want to optimize and include the exact match of the keyword in it.

Including your exact keyword in the title, the meta description, and the URL is ground zero for creating content that ranks.

Simple right?

If you are using a WordPress site, do install an SEO plugin, and these are the key metrics that will guide you to optimize too.

The Content

Your main content is the most important for the SEO optimization process. To create content that ranks on the first page, why not research your competitors first before writing your content?

In order to rank top, the only goal is to outrank them in their current position. Hence, it’s always good to see how they are doing.

Take notes on the topics each post covers, the angle, and the headings.

Your goal is to create something better. The key here is to provide value to your customers and be authentic.

For some bloggers, it’s like building a skyscraper. Getting a longer post with more tips. For example, your competitors might be listing 10 hacks to do something better. And you can just like 11 or 12 hacks. This is a good chance to outrank them.

However, your content material is equally important. You should create

  • More Value — Your goal when creating the content should be to create value for your customer. Only with more value, your content will get viewed and hence, get more visitors and customers. You can do this by offering additional tips, and resources or linking to other great tools.
  • More Detailed — Google likes content that is detailed and truly can help its users. The more detailed your content is, the better it explains to the visitors, and the better it ranks.
  • More Accurate — This is how the long tail keywords work. Always very accurate when you are targeting some keywords and addressing their concern. Give the best answer you can give and you will rank.

SEO is a ranking game, everyone is optimizing their page to rank top so they can leverage Google Free Traffic. You are going to pull someone down if you are trying to rank. And they might optimize their content to outrank you as well.

Internal Linking

One of the keys to good website SEO is to treat your website like a book. Well, Google did that as well.

Backlinking is one of the very important metrics in SEO optimization as well.

There are two types of backlinking. Internal and external.

First of all, internal links are free to build. You can add your other link to the specific post. Just like a chapter in a book.

Your structure will be the post as the book and the link will be the chapter in your book. Further explaining in detail cannot be explained in a single post.

The key is to make sure the link and the anchor text itself are relevant and make sense. You don’t just want to spam internal links on your website.

I recommend writing your content without thinking about internal links… and then going back through it to see if there are any opportunities to include more links.

And next, an external link is to get people to refer to your site on their website. Instead of linking to their own internal link, they link to your site. This is also very important, but it takes time and effort to build reputations and links.

Be Patient

There is nothing much you can do to rank in SEO now. It takes time for Google to crawl your page, study the trend and rank it.

Even if your website does not rank after you complete the all SEO optimization tricks, don’t give up. If you are doing everything right, it might eventually rank.

But then, you shall also monitor the performance and your competitors to make sure that your content is competitive enough.

Hence, start your SEO strategy earlier, and give some time for the search engine to do the magic.

4. Build Backlinks – Improve Website’s SEO Rankings

Backlinks are the backbone of a good SEO strategy. And the very important element in SEO.

You will tell that your content is the best, but Google needs some feedback from others as well. This will increase your trustworthiness. And because this is hard to fake, hence it is a very important element.

For SEO newcomers, a backlink is just a link that goes from an external website to your website.

And the more other websites that link to your website, the higher Google is going to want to rank you.

When building backlinks, building a quality backlink is more important than tonnes of low-quality backlinks. Google’s SEO algorithm is very smart and will somehow find out what you are doing and punish your site.

Hence, if you are planning to buy backlinks, do it carefully and never buy cheap links. Everything has its price.

Another option is to look for high-ranking sites and ask them to link back to you. You may send them a request message or email like this.

Sample backlink request message

Hi {first name},

I ran across your website and read your article. I appreciated the attention to detail and learned a lot from your article.

Are you interested in adding a resource on {your topic}?

I am Bennie, reaching out from the UK. I’d like to send you our guide on the topic.

Might be worth mentioning in your articles?

If you don’t mind, I will send you a copy.

Regards,

To build backlinks, the best way is to create value for the website owner in exchange for the backlink. You may be getting lots of rejections when doing that. But that’s all fine.

Focus on growing your websites and reputations. And, let them know you are worthy. And, don’t be afraid of rejection. So, Just keep trying.

5. Using Featured Snippets – Improve Website’s SEO Rankings

Featured snippets are highlighted excerpts of text that appear at the top of a Google search results page in what is known as ‘Position 0’.

They provide users with quick answers to their search queries. And, featured snippets are more likely to appear when users enter informational search queries.

For example, if I search for “wholesale”, and this comes up…

How do you do it?

Whenever you are writing a blog post, add a definition or answer a question to it.

I recommend doing this with all of the content you create whenever you think there might be an opportunity to get the featured snippet.

So one great strategy is to go back to the content you’ve already created that is ranking on the first page for your target keyword and try to add in some content in order to snag the featured snippet.

Another tip is to use bullet lists, this is a very good method that Google likes as well.

6. Improve Time On Page – Improve Website’s SEO Rankings

One of the elements that SEO is tracking is the time on the page. How long does someone stay on a page when they reach your site?

The longer that people spend on your page, it means the more interesting or useful is your content. Hence, Google will assume that your page is giving people what they want, and then they’ll rank it higher.

And of course, if people arrive at your page and bounce within a few seconds, that’s going to hurt your rankings.

So…

How to get People to Spend More Time On Your Website or Blog

Here are some ideas…

  • Make sure your articles are easy to read. Make it scannable by using headlines and sub-headlines to break up the text. No one likes long paragraphs unless they like your content very much.
  • Use images, and videos, to add visuals to your content so it won’t be plain and boring. And, it gets people engaged.
  • Write longer articles. Longer articles had been the key element to rank for Google.
  • Pay attention to your design. Your website should use fonts and design that is easy to read. Proper breakup and whitespace will make it easier to read.
  • Use social proof like testimonials, customer logos, and trust indicators (like SSL certificates) to increase your credibility and reputation.
  • Use clickbait properly. Clickbait is good to get clicks but don’t over-promise. You should always deliver what you promised. Else your visitor will leave.
